According to Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk has made up his mind about whether he would entertain a trilogy showdown with ‘The Gypsy King’ in 2027.

The pair’s first encounter took place in May 2024, when Usyk edged a split decision after coming on strong down the stretch and scoring a ninth-round knockdown.

In doing so, the Ukrainian became a two-division undisputed champion and reigned as the first heavyweight to hold all four major belts.

Usyk then defended his crown against Fury in December 2024, controlling large portions of their rematch to claim a more comprehensive unanimous decision victory.

Subsequently, Fury announced his retirement after failing to secure a trilogy, only to return with a unanimous decision triumph over Arslanbek Makhmudov last April.

Then came the news that he would finally collide with Anthony Joshua later this year, with the 38-year-old completing his second warm-up fight by stopping Mariusz Wach in seven rounds.

But while it has been announced that he will, indeed, square off with ‘AJ’ on December 11, Fury has told IFL TV that he is treating this as yet another warm-up for the final fight of his career.

“I wanna punch this bum [Joshua] into smithereens as a warm-up, and [then] I want a trilogy with the rabbit [Usyk].

“I spoke to Alex about it and he’s up for it next year – first quarter [of] next year – in what will be the icing on the cake of a long, luxurious career would be Joshua in Cardiff then Usyk at Madison Square Garden.”

Fury went on to highlight New York’s Madison Square Garden as a potential venue, while Usyk is already exploring stateside opportunities for his next outing.
