Tyson Fury wants to go straight into Anthony Joshua fight

Tyson Fury wants to cut straight to the chase

John Dennen

4th January, 2018

AFTER spending two years out of action, grappling with UK Anti-Doping, his own personal demons and now changing training set up, you’d think Tyson Fury would need a tune-up bout or two before returning to top-level boxing.

But to kick off the new year Fury, the former heavyweight kingpin, has called out unified champion Anthony Joshua for his first fight back.

“As a sporting challenge I lay down the challenge for Anthony Joshua to fight me in my first fight back in over 2.5 years! I’m the best heavyweight on the planet. Come prove I’m not? The ball is in your court. Don’t let your fans down CHAMP. Want to see how good I am?” Fury said.

He argued, “I’m that good I don’t need any warm-ups I can come off the couch and beat up on Anthony Joshua.

“Let’s fight this summer.”

He added, “Let’s give the public what they want. The biggest fight in British boxing history. We can make this happen.”

Of course, Fury may have reached a settlement with UKAD but he still needs to get his licence to box restored, meanwhile Joshua is negotiating a heavyweight unification with WBO titlist Joseph Parker, likely for March.

Plus, discussions to make Joshua vs Fury would no doubt be protracted and tortuous. In short there’ll be a wait yet before the big fight can happen.
