TYSON FURY will fight Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title on December 1 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

For it to be a title fight, Fury needed to sign up to the WBC’s drug testing programme, which he has done. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman confirmed, “Tyson Fury has sent WBC Boxing Clean Boxing Program enrolment forms to VADA.”

Fury and Wilder have embarked on a three city media tour from London to New York and Los Angeles, gleefully hurling insults at one another as tempers threatened to boil over.

It all tees up one of the most intriguing fights in the division. Both are unbeaten. Wilder is the reigning WBC titlist, one of the hardest punchers in the sport and is coming off an impressive stoppage victory over Luis Ortiz.

Tyson Fury

Fury still considers himself the ‘lineal’ heavyweight champion since he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko, then the unified boss, in 2015. But Fury didn’t fight for more than two years, resolving a doping violation and struggling to recapture his motivation. He is now only two fights into his comeback, beating Sefer Seferi and Francesco Pianeta earlier this year. But Fury does not appear to be lacking any confidence.

“This is a message for everyone – I’ve never fought or sparred anyone who I couldn’t beat,” he warned. “Remember what I told you many times before.”
