TYSON FURY wants to fight Anthony Joshua in September at Wembley Stadium.

The leading British heavyweight published a post from his Instagram account to reveal the following details.

“A few days ago I sent a draft contract to @anthonyjoshua for a fight in September.

“@wembleystadium its a fight that everyone wants to see including myself. Come on AJ lets give the world what they want to see. This time I’m not gonna make a million vids & keep putting pressure on. The ball is now on your side.”

The news comes after months of struggles for Fury to find an opponent for his next fight. One for all the marbles against Oleksandr Usyk publicly fell apart earlier this year. Joe Joyce conqueror Zhang Zhilei was also considered only to be pulled away due to a rematch clause which Joyce plans to take up.

Fury has spent some time in Australia this past week to cheer on his training partner Joseph Parker in his latest outing. During his time in Oz Fury was said to be in talks for a fight against untested heavyweight Demsey McKean. Cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia was also put in the frame to face the giant Brit.

Last year talks between both Fury and Joshua’s camps got underway for a fight in November. Once again, however, nothing came to fruition after much public back and forth. In December Fury returned to the ring in an uninspiring trilogy win against veteran Dereck Chisora.

Following two back-to-back losses against Oleksdandr Usyk Joshua returned to action in April against Jermaine Franklin. The headline event at the O2 Arena, London ended in an unspectacular points win for the Brit.

His promoter Eddie Hearn told Boxing News yesterday that they expect to make a formal offer to Dillian Whyte for the pair to face one another in August. Joshua is currently in Texas training with new cornerman Derrick James

The heavyweight scene has seen more speculation than slugging in 2023. Fury, Joshua, and Wilder are without dates and opponents while the remaining member of the fab four Usyk is set to face Daniel Dubois in the summer.

Fury v Joshua would be a blockbuster event and another slice of good news for the sport which has seen an upturn in big fights being made lately.
