Tyson Fury proposes to fight Wladimir Klitschko AND Anthony Joshua on July 9

Tyson Fury vows to beat both men on the same night

TYSON FURY has a solution to the potential schedule clash between his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua’s first IBF world title defence on July 9.

Fury will defend his WBA and WBO titles against Klitschko at the Manchester Arena, while Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has stated ‘AJ’ could also box on that date.

While it remains to be seen which date Joshua will definitely defend the title he won from Charles Martin on, Fury suggests he could fight both Klitschko and Joshua on the same night.

“What we do is, we go to the Manchester Arena, charge treble for the tickets, treble for the pay-preview, I’ll fight Klitschko first, beat him, then I’ll fight AJ and beat him on the same night,” he said.

“Two fights, same night. That’s my proposal.”

Naturally, Fury was dismissive of Joshua’s second-round stoppage win over Martin, who himself had inherited the IBF title stripped from Fury when Vyacheslav Glazkov retired during their fight in January.

Fury took the IBF title from Klitschko when he beat him, but was swiftly stripped due to his contractual obligation to an immediate rematch, meaning he could not make his mandatory defence.

“I thought he [Joshua] looked like a pumped up weightlifter. He fought an American who got paid to lie down. He [Martin] has about as much fight in him as a glass of water. All these Americans are bums, can’t fight,” he said.

“I’m the heavyweight champion, if they don’t beat me they’re not world champions. Without me, Joshua wouldn’t be a world champion because they wouldn’t have relieved Klitschko of his IBF title. It takes a real man to relieve a super champion of his belts.”

A potential megafight between Fury and Joshua is now one step closer to reality, and there are also other big nights for the Wilmslow giant against the likes of WBC champion Deontay Wilder.

However he must first take care of business against Klitschko, and Fury is well aware that he cannot take his eye off the ball.

“The fight I’ve got to worry about is Wlad, because Wlad’s 10 times the man of any of the other champions,” he said.

“He might have had an off night, he might have lost on purpose, I might be in for a hell of a hiding on July 9. We don’t know. I’ve got to get past him first, there’s no point talking about these other bums until I beat the man who was the man.

“Provided I can do that, I’ll fight all of them. They’re easy paydays. I take the British ones first, they’re the easiest. I’ll have the American ones afterwards.”
