TYSON FURY is in talks to face the unbeaten Demsey McKean.

That’s according to the Australian’s manager Angelo Di Carlo who told The Daily Telegraph that discussions had started some time ago.

Fury is Down Under to support his friend and gym-mate Joseph Parker who fights Faiga Opelu in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The Telegraph’s article suggests that Fury is looking at a possible fight in Australia at either Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium or Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. The latter hosted the lightweight showdown between George Kambosos Jr and Devin Haney in June 2022.

“I think Demsey is the best option for ‘The Gypsy King’. Demsey has said let’s make this fight happen,” said Di Carlo.

“We’re certainly keen to do the fight. I’ll have more talks with Fury’s camp and see where that takes us.

“If Tyson wants to fight in Australia, the logical option is to fight an Aussie fighter and talking to Fury’s people, they don’t want to fight a small heavyweight.”

McKean stands at 6ft 6ins, three inches shorter than Fury. The Queensland heavyweight is promoted by Matchroom and trained by Tony Sims. Although the 32-year-old southpaw has a record of 22-0 (14) he has not faced anyone near the calibre of Fury or anyone inside the top 10 rankings.

In 2022 McKean fought and won on two occasions. First was an eight-round points win against Argentinian journeyman Ariel Bracamonte and then a third-round knockout of German heavyweight Patrick Korte.

Fury is keen to land a fight this summer after seeing potential bouts against Oleksandr Usyk and Zhang Zhilei fall through. Usyk now looks set to face Daniel Dubois while Zhilei is in talks to rematch Joe Joyce.

The British heavyweight may now have found a foe to keep him active before a rumoured clash with Usyk later in the year.

“We’ve been given a possible date to fight Fury in August, so hopefully we can make it happen,” said Di Carlo.
