Tyson Fury has addressed fans with a positive message as they wait for an announcement concerning his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Fury beat Mariusz Wach last month in Thailand, with Joshua winning the night after against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia – though not without drama.

Both victories tee up the all-British heavyweight fight fans have been demanding for the best part of a decade, however conversations behind the scenes on the location have seemingly held up the official announcement.

Though both Fury and Joshua have signed contracts for the bout, ‘AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn has made it clear in recent weeks that their agreement says the fight will take place in the UK, as fans would expect.

A drive to make it happen in New York to maximise revenue has therefore required further negotiations, with Hearn recently stating that any early announcement before a final signature could threaten the fight happening at all. This week, Netflix premiered a trailer for the event, but did not include a date or location, simply a ‘coming soon’ message.

The recent developments have led some in the boxing world to question whether or not the plans will fall through entirely, as they have done in the past with this match-up.

Taking to social media, however, Fury provided the most positive update yet that the fight has made it over the line.

“Everything’s going well. I got some big news, going to be dropped very soon. All is good in the hood – big fight on the horizon. It’s the one you’ve all been waiting for, about to be announced imminently, so stay tuned.”

This may mean that Joshua’s side has struck a new deal to allow the US plans to go ahead, despite the vast majority of fans, pundits and fellow fighters strongly believing the fight belongs on British shores.
