The announcement of Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua has got the whole world talking, and Tyson Fury and his father John Fury have differing opinions of how the controversial clash will play out.
Paul is yet to fight an active heavyweight in his 13-fight career, with his solitary outing in the division coming against a 57-year-old Mike Tyson, who had not fought professionally for almost two decades prior to their meeting last year.
Meanwhile, two-time heavyweight champion Joshua is not only a two-time champion of the division, but he is also a current contender for the heavyweight throne, having challenged Daniel Dubois for the IBF world title only last year.
Yet, despite an obvious gap in both experience and skill, Paul and Joshua will collide in what is unquestionably one of the most talked about bouts of the calendar, in just four weeks’ time.
Speaking to iFL TV, John Fury dismissed any chances of Paul pulling off the upset, insinuating that the only way that the American could come out on top is if foul play is agreed beforehand.
“Anthony, listen to me, don’t take a dive with this Jake Paul, mate. Do not do that, not for a billion dollars, my pal. Don’t do it. Don’t do as the others have done. Do not take dives. If he fights, you knock him dead as a nit and good luck with it.”
“Anthony Joshua could knock Jake Paul out with his d**k.”
However, in an interview with Ring Magazine, Tyson Fury predicted a knockout victory for ‘The Problem Child’.
“I don’t know about [it being a] tune-up, I think Jake Paul knocks him out.”
“I think that AJ is a spent force, and I think Jake Paul is on the rise. I like his new heavyweight look, he is a bit chubby, a bit bulky, he is getting there.”
Paul-Joshua will take place on Friday, December 19, with the eight-round affair topping a Miami bill that will be available to watch live on Netflix.
