  1. Danny Garcia vs Amir Khan

Khan was boxing well against Garcia before being undone by a massive left hook back in 2012. Currently No 1 challenger for Garcia’s title, Khan is eager to avenge the loss and even prioritises a rematch with Garcia over a superfight with domestic rival Kell Brook. Garcia is scheduled to fight WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman in March while Khan is still recovering from injury.

  1. Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao

Admit it, you would watch it. While Mayweather insists he is happily retired, Pacquiao ended his brief hiatus from the sport in November when he dominated Jessie Vargas to win yet another world title. The Filipino is desperate to get his hands on Mayweather again after his disappointing points loss to the American in 2015.

  1. Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz

One of two rematches on this list that are officially happening (so far). Frampton will defend the WBA featherweight title he won from Santa Cruz in their hellacious meeting earlier in the year. The pair meet in Las Vegas in January.

  1. Roman Gonzalez vs Carlos Cuadras

Though Gonzalez was a deserved winner, this super-flyweight clash was one of the fights of the year and a tight affair. The WBC confirmed this week that pound-for-pound king Gonzalez will defend the belt he won from Cuadras in a rematch in March.

  1. Jorge Linares vs Anthony Crolla

Crolla lost his WBA lightweight title to division leader Linares and both men seem keen on a rematch of the feisty first encounter. Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed to Boxing News that it looks set for March 25 in Manchester.

  1. Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko

Fury is taking a much-needed break to resolve his personal issues. Should he return, a contractually mandated rematch against the long-standing champion he conquered makes the most sense. However Klitschko fights IBF champion Anthony Joshua in April.

  1. Dillian Whyte vs Dereck Chisora

These two rival heavyweights produced the best British fight of 2016 this past weekend, with Whyte just pipping Chisora on the cards. With a serious grudge between them and a score still to settle, fight fans are eager for them to resume hostilities next year.

  1. James DeGale vs George Groves

DeGale has a unification fight with Badou Jack to get through while Groves has landed another world title of his own, but a continuation of this bitter rivalry is a must. If Groves wins the WBA title against Chudinov when they meet next year, surely a rematch with DeGale will be top of each man’s wish list.

  1. Roman Gonzalez vs Juan Francisco Estrada

These two engaged in a 12-round war back in 2012 and now, with both at super-flyweight and their profiles much, much bigger, a rematch would be mouth-watering.

  1. Andre Ward vs Sergey Kovalev

The first fight between these elite operators was enthralling and painfully close. Kovalev deserves the chance to reclaim his light-heavyweight titles.
