FRENCHMAN Tony Yoka, the World gold medallist, lines up against Filip Hrgovic in the super-heavyweight semi-final of the Olympic Games today. On the other side of the draw GB’s Joe Joyce boxes Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko for a place in the 91&kgs final.

“I’m excited it’s been a long time I’ve been waiting for this Olympic Games, four years. I worked a lot, I’m the number one in the rankings, I’m World champion so for me I just want the gold,” Yoka told Boxing News.

Yoka wants to meet Britain’s Joe Joyce in the super-heavyweight final. “The three other medallists are the three guys that I beat in the world championships, Filip, Joyce and Dychko,” he said.

“For me I know they are very good. I prefer Joyce in the final because Dychko is intelligent, he’s tall and I don’t like his style. Joyce is easier for me to know what his boxing style because he’s not smart. He’s a strong guy, physically he’s a monster. But I box with my head so for me it’s better to box Joyce.”
