While Terence Crawford has hung up the gloves, the Omaha southpaw continues to be linked to both a rematch with Canelo Alvarez and a showdown with two-division unified world champion, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. Now, multi-weight world champion, Tim Bradley, has offered his thoughts on a potential fight between ‘Bud’ and Ennis.
Ennis and Crawford were linked to a clash at welterweight before Crawford ventured up to super-welterweight and then super-middleweight for a shot at Canelo, hanging up the gloves there months after a career best victory over the Mexican superstar.
Meanwhile, Ennis became the IBF welterweight world champion when Crawford vacated the belt and then unified the titles by defeating WBA champion, Eimantas Stanionis, before a move up to super-welterweight.
After a first-round knockout on his 154lb debut, Ennis then stopped Xander Zayas to claim the WBA and WBO marbles in a performance of the year candidate back in June.
Now, some fans are questioning whether Ennis would have gotten the better of Crawford and if the latter should return to the sport in an attempt to notch a win over a likely star of the next generation.
On his YouTube channel, Bradley shot down any idea of Ennis handing Crawford a first career defeat if he were to come back, believing that the veteran would win the contest comfortably.
“Terence is retired, man. Just because you see Terence inside of the gym, working, trying to stay in shape, now he coming back to face Boots because Boots is running his mouth? Crawford ain’t never been one to make a move because you running your mouth?
“Crawford is like, ‘come on, bro, get your weight up. If you get your weight up, then maybe I might [come back]’.
“Boots has got a lot of growing to do, Crawford sees it. I’m letting y’all know right now, man, Crawford would knock the dog s**t out of Boots Ennis.
“I like Boots. Boots is the next one up, but if they get into the ring, I have got to call it how I see it and Crawford would beat the Philly cheesesteaks out of Boots Ennis.”
However, it seems as though a Crawford return is unlikely, given the fact that the 38-year-old refused to be tempted into a lucrative rematch with Canelo.
