LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT Anthony Yarde and heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois are both in action on Saturday (February 24) at York Hall. Yarde boxes Tony Averlant and Dubois fights DJ Jones.

Promoter Frank Warren outlined the plan for the promising duo. “I want them to both come through on Saturday. I see it as a process of trying to get experience, as much experience as they can. Daniel only had seven senior fights as an amateur, he’s had six pro fights. We’re putting him in for 10 rounders, which I don’t think has happened for any other heavyweight that I can think of. We just want to keep him busy. He just needs to keep picking up experience. He’s fighting an undefeated fighter Saturday. I’d expect him to come through that fight, hope he does,” he said.

“As regarding Anthony, he only had 12 fights as an amateur. He’s had 14 fights as a pro, this guy he’s fighting Averlant, he’s had 37 fights, he’s won 29 of them, drew of them. He’s been in with good quality. This is all about learning. His last fight [against Nikola Sjekloca] was a tough fight, he’s done well to stop that guy, he’s never been stopped before. That was a tough fight for him and shown another side again. Sometimes you’re not going to take him out with one punch and you’ve got to work and he worked.”

Warren concluded, “Both of them need experience. We know they both can punch. Both need experience. That’s objective by the end of the year they’re in a position where I would be very disappointed if Daniel not fought for a British title and Anthony’s up there, there or thereabouts for a world title shot.”
