THE “Monster”, Naoya Inoue halted Warlito Parrenas at 1-20 of the second round to defend his WBO super-flyweight crown at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo today.
“I fought with a sense of tension today and it was a great experience. I would like to fight in the United States too, if offers come along,” Inoue told the Kyodo news agency.
Japanese destroyer Inoue only turned professional in late 2012, has a 9-0 (8) record and has already won a world title at light-flyweight before super-fly crown.
If Inoue took on Roman Gonzalez, the WBC flyweight champ, that would be one of the best fights of 2016.
On the same Tuesday bill Akira Yaegashi defeated Javier Mendoza by unanimous points decision to win the IBF light-flyweight title, his third world title in three different divisions.
