The Details: Jaime Munguia vs. John Ryder
Munguia and Ryder

LIKE any good, seasoned campaigner John Ryder is now only interested in fights that light a fire under him.

Since an unexpected trip to Austria during Covid to stop Jozef Jurko in the fifth of an eight-round contest, Ryder, now 35, has beaten Daniel Jacobs and Zach Parker, and also lost in admirable fashion to Canelo Alvarez.

This Saturday (January 27), meanwhile, Ryder will be in America trying to take the unbeaten record of Mexico’s Jaime Munguia, a 27-year-old who has hopes of facing Canelo, his compatriot, one day.

For Ryder to continue mixing it with the best he must defeat Munguia or produce a performance that will at the very least keep him in the running for more big-fight opportunities.

WHEN AND WHERE IS IT?

Munguia vs. Ryder goes down at the Footprint Centre in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday night (January 27); the same venue where, in February 2022, the outstanding Jesse Rodriguez dominated Mexican veteran Carlos Cuadras over 12 rounds.
