TERENCE CRAWFORD was sentenced to 50 days in jail in Douglas County Court earlier today for an incident at a body shop in his native Omaha, Nebraska in April.

Douglas County Judge Marcena Hendrix told Crawford, “You’ve continued to act as if you are above the law, and you are not,” according to the Omaha-World Herald.

In September, Hendrix convicted the 29-year-old on two of three misdemeanors — guilty of property damage and disorderly conduct — and not guilty of another — trespassing. He had faced a maximum of $500 fine and up to six months in jail on each misdemeanor charge.

Crawford’s attorney, Matthew Kahler, said he hoped to have Crawford out of jail by the end of the day on appeal.

In April, Crawford and some friends had confronted the owner of a body shop after they had done some work to a car ‘Bud’ had intended on giving to his nephew. Having paid half of the fee up front, Crawford refused to pay the second half as he was dissatisfied with the work. That lead to the confrontation, which resulted in $3,300 damage to a hydraulic lift.

The news comes just days after Crawford stopped John Molina in Omaha to retain his WBC and WBO world super-lightweight titles.
