Terence Crawford gave an honest response when asked if he has developed itchy knuckles, or indeed any urge to return to boxing, since announcing his retirement.

The 38-year-old called time on his glittering career in December, just a few months removed from his monumental victory over Canelo Alvarez.

Despite moving up from 154lbs and contending with a significant size disadvantage, Crawford was able to outpoint Canelo and become a three-division undisputed champion.

His previous undisputed triumph came in 2023, when he produced a dominant performance to drop and eventually stop Errol Spence Jr.

That particular victory saw Crawford become the bona fide king at 147lbs, where a string of seven stoppages preceded his ultimate collection of the four major titles.

It therefore seemed like the right time for ‘Bud’ to announce his retirement, having made his mark on five weight classes and become one of only a few world champions to exit the sport with an unbeaten record.

And so, when asked by DAZN whether he misses the thrill of competing, Crawford simply insisted that he is grateful for the additional time spent with his family.

“I’m enjoying it; I’m enjoying the fruits of my labour. I’m putting more time into my kids, and their wrestling careers and things like that.

“I’ve just been able to relax and not have to focus on other things outside of my family.”

If Crawford was to return, his last rival Canelo would likely be keen for a rematch, having initially stated his desire to face ‘Bud’ again before the Omaha superstar announced his retirement.
