BOXING at the Olympia in his Liverpool hometown, Stephen Smith scored a vital win, hammering Devis Boschiero to the canvas five times and halting the Italian in the sixth round.
This victory gives Smith the right to challenge for the IBF super-featherweight title, a belt currently held by Jose Pedraza who is due to defend against Edner Cherry on October 3 in Ohio.
“I knew the bodyshots would play a part and we were adamant they would hurt him. And they did,” Smith said afterwards. “I’m over the moon but I know it won’t sink in for a while.”
