The ‘Four Kings’ took the boxing world by storm throughout the 1980s and now one of the sons of the legendary quartet is set to fight later this month.

Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler were the iconic names that made up the ‘Four Kings’ – all taking part in epic battles against one another.

Around 40 years on from when the ‘Four Kings’ were at their peak, some of their family members are continuing the fighting tradition, with Duran’s son Robert Jr following in the footsteps of his father by competing.

The 37-year-old has a professional record of 12-4, nine of those wins coming by knockout, with his last taste of the professional action coming back in October 2023.

He has since competed five times in BKB bare knuckle, winning three of his five bouts, and will now look to add to that tally when he faces Ryan Spivey at BKB 58 on August 29 in Miami.

Speaking about the upcoming contest, Duran Jr explained how he’s looking to carve his own path away from his illustrious ‘Four Kings’ father.

“This is my city, my home, and I’m bringing that energy into the Trigon. My father sealed his envelope a long time ago, this is about my own legacy now. Spivey’s tough, but I’ve got business to finish and I’m going to finish it in front of my people in Miami.”

The card in Miami later this month also features BKB Heavyweight World Champion Gustavo Trujillo defending his title against Mark O’Neil, and Olympic gold medallist Yuriorkis Gamboa making his BKB debut against Yesner Talavera.
