SKYE Nicolson has been added to the undercard of Jake Wyllie vs Youssef Dib, hoping to establish herself as a formidable force at super-bantamweight.
The former world featherweight champion tested the waters earlier this month, albeit at a catchweight of 124lbs, as she wasted little time before producing a ruthlessly one-sided display.
That second-round finish came soon after her stunning defeat to Tiara Brown, whose more assertive effort in March saw her edge a tightly-contested split decision.
But now, Nicolson, 13-1 (2 KOs), looks to reinvent herself down at 122lbs, where unified world champion Ellie Scotney has firmly cemented herself as the top dog.
Standing in her way of further accolades, meanwhile, is India’s Urvashi Singh, who just so happens to have fought in Australia, the home nation of Nicolson, once before.
It was a comfortable points victory, in fact, that saw her complete a successful mission against Thanchanok Phanan – another little-known operator – on away soil.
But regardless of her limited credentials, Singh may nonetheless choose to take confidence from that outing when she locks horns with Nicolson at the Fortitude Music Hall in Queensland, Australia.
The Matchroom Boxing card, which takes place on August 23, will be headlined by a lightweight dustup between Aussie bruisers Wyllie and Dib.
For Nicolson, though, this represents an opportunity to climb up the sanctioning body rankings and, with any luck, secure herself another shot at world honours before long.
Other than Scotney, who is signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, newly-crowned WBA champion Mayelli Rosquero could represent an appealing option for the 29-year-old.
