“Show me the money!” roars Tyson Fury on AJ clash

TYSON Fury’s retirement continues, for now, as rumours of future fights appear with greater consistency. On the day that speculation gathered pace around a third clash with Oleksandr Usyk next April, a fight with domestic rival Anthony Joshua is still considered a possibility.

The ‘Gypsy King’ was out in Turkey at IBA PRO 7 when three-time victim Derek Chisora turned matchmaker to raise the subject of an AJ battle. The Wythenshawe warrior remains open to entertaining a Joshua bout, should specific terms be agreed.

“Of course. 100%,” Fury confirmed, when quizzed about his interest.

“Show me the money, Umar [Kremlev]. I haven’t got an IBA PRO belt, but I’m available — I’m young, free, single and ready to mingle!”

Drafted over to Turkey alongside a host of star names from the world of boxing and beyond, Fury spoke in glowing terms about the IBA and their commitment to bringing through the next generation of boxers.

“I’ve travelled the world with boxing, but we travel for money,” he boomed.

“We fight for the biggest purse — and the investment Umar is putting into amateur boxing is amazing. When I was an amateur, I didn’t get paid anything. I had no support. Now you’ve got all of these talented youngsters coming through and Umar is supporting them, it’s fantastic.”

Always willing to stir the pugilistic pot, Fury added fuel to the fire regarding the aforementioned Usyk trilogy bout. Unsubstantiated posts on social media have circulated a date of April 18 at Wembley Stadium.

Quite how much appetite there would be for such a matchup, given the fact they’ve already tussled twice, resulting in a Ukrainian double, remains to be seen. Usyk has a dangerous date pencilled in for July 19 when he takes on Daniel Dubois in the same Wembley venue.
