Jake Paul is just days away from stepping through the ropes with Anthony Joshua — a fight few could have predicted would happen, but one with an outcome most believe is a foregone conclusion.

The YouTuber-turned-fighter will face the two-time unified heavyweight champion in a professionally sanctioned bout, stepping up his level of competition dramatically from the likes of a long-retired Mike Tyson or inactive Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Speaking to Seconds Out, former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs — who worked with Paul early on in his career alongside his brother, Logan — said that the fight really has only one outcome and that will be the end of the American’s campaign as we know it.

“It looks like it’s gonna be the end, on paper. If Joshua hit him the way he’s supposed to hit him. I don’t know what type of rules they’ve got involved, but if it’s an all-out war, it should be [Jake’s] last fight. Like I keep saying, he’s got enough money to pay for the hospital bills, so it’s okay.”

Asked if his skillset has improved, Briggs praised Paul’s drive to carve a name out for himself in the sport.

“When I [worked with him] when he was young, he had the determination and he’s done a phenomenal job as a guy who got into boxing late and dedicated himself to fight Mike Tyson, to fight all the fights he’s had, so he’s done great.”

Finally, his advice to the 28-year-old is as follows.

“Go all out, champ. Go forward and give it all you got. It don’t matter. Just go all out. You never know, champ.”

The fight takes place this Friday at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, home to the NBA’s Miami Heat. Fans can watch around the world live on Netflix.
