PRECOCIOUS portsider Shakur Stevenson, 11-0 (6), makes his maiden pro appearance in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey, this Saturday (July 13). Opposing the 2016 Olympic silver medal-winner at the Prudential Center is Mexican Alberto Guevara, 27-4 (12).

The El Cajon, California resident was brought in as a late replacement for Franklin Manzanilla, who himself had come in to replace Hairon Socarras beforehand.

Guevara is a previous two-time world bantamweight title contestant who has mixed with some quality opposition such as Leo Santa Cruz, Shinsuke Yamanaka, Emmanuel Rodriguez and, last time out in January, Hugo Ruiz. However, all four of these fights ended in comprehensive losses for Guevara.

Furthermore, each of these setbacks occurred away from Mexico – he has never won outside of his native country. Guevara likes to get stuck in, but Stevenson is eye-catchingly quick and accurate, which will allow him to beat his rival to the punch. Stevenson’s superior skillset can see him secure a clear decision win in this featherweight 10-rounder.
