SHAKUR STEVENSON vs. Gervonta Davis is one of the biggest fights in boxing still to happen.

That may change in 2025, however, with the best facing the best more and more.

Davis’ next fight, a WBA lightweight title defence against Lamont Roach, could move from it’s date in December to January. Stevenson, however, seems set to return on February 22 in Riyadh against William Zepeda. He must first defeat Tevin Farmer next Saturday night to for that matchup to take place.

Stevenson, who now fights under the Matchroom promotional banner, is confident that he will take on ‘Tank’ Davis in 2025.

“Yes, I think next year it’d be perfect. I think… the fight’s gotta happen,” he told Boxing News.

“There’s no the way the fight don’t happen. The best versus the best and I can’t wait for it.”

The WBC lightweight champion had been due to face Joe Cordina earlier this month but a hand problem forced him to withdraw. Stevenson is now looking forward to a busy and productive 2025 featuring a fight against Davis. And the 27-year-old shared a word of caution for those who would back ‘Tank’ to beat him.

“I’m gonna win for sure, 100%,” he said. “I think that a lot of people are gonna bet the other way and a lot people gonna lose money. But the people who bet this way gonna win money.”

Stevenson insists he has no problem with Davis or any rival but wants to get in the ring with them.

“I ain’t got no real beef with these guys,” Stevenson said. “Hopefully these guys [are] living their best lives and doing everything they supposed to be doing outside the ring. But at the end of the day we gotta squabble.”
