As he awaits his first world title shot, formidable super-welterweight contender Serhii Bohachuk looks to stay busy against American gatekeeper Mykal Fox.
The pair will headline a UFC Fight Pass show, delivered by 360 Promotions boss Tom Loeffler, at the Commerce Casino, California, on May 17.
Bohachuk, 25-2 (24 KOs), comes off a dominant sixth-round stoppage victory over Ishmael Davis last December, which followed his highly contentious majority decision defeat to Vergil Ortiz Jr.
In their compelling battle, the 29-year-old floored his dynamic opponent twice, showcasing his destructive power, before losing by the finest of margins.
But still, the Ukrainian β who boasts a number-one ranking with the WBC β has nonetheless established himself as a leading contender at 154lbs.
For him, the most obvious route towards world honours would be to target a clash with WBC and WBO world champion Sebastian Fundora.
The pair were supposed to square off last year, as it happens, before Fundora, 22-1-1 (14 KOs), replaced Keith Thurman in a thrilling battle with Tim Tszyu.
After emerging from their bloodbath with a split decision victory, βThe Towering Infernoβ then successfully defended his unified crown with a fourth-round finish against Chordale Booker last month.
But now, it would appear that Fundoraβs promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, is in talks with Top Rank, the promoter of WBO mandatory challenger Xander Zayas, 21-0 (13 KOs), to deliver their clash on a Premier Boxing Champions card later this year.
That, of course, has left Bohachuk with an unappealing matchup against Fox, a former super-lightweight operator, as he waits in the wings for his world title shot.
Elsewhere on the 360 Promotions card, Mizuki Hiruta will defend her WBO world super-flyweight strap against Carla Merino while unbeaten prospect Omar Trinidad, too, returns to action against Alexander Espinoza.
