Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Ievgen Khytrov ready to shine in Atlantic City

TWO of Ukraine’s finest prospects will be on display in Atlantic City on August 7 when Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Ievgen Khytrov fight in separate bouts.

Rising middleweight Derevyanchenko takes on former world title challenger Elvin Ayala over eight while Khytrov takes on New York’s Nick Brinson also over eight at 160lbs, at Bally’s Atlantic City.

Derevyanchenko, a 2008 Olympian, faces his toughest test as a professional in Ayala, who lost to Arthur Abraham in 2008 but has won eight of his last nine and the Ukrainian is relishing the opportunity.

“I have been preparing for this fight for over a month now and still have another five weeks of camp left; everything is going according to plan,” he said.

“I can’t wait to showcase my skills to the world on Aug. 7 as the main event.

“Ayala is an experienced and proven contender and, without a doubt, my toughest opponent to date. That being said, there is no doubt in my mind that I will come out victorious from this battle.”

Khytrov, who lost to eventual bronze medalist Anthony Ogogo at London 2012, is also looking to put on an impressive display.

“I am looking to put on my most spectacular performance yet,” he said.

“Every time I step into the ring, I am looking to showcase that I’m one of the best up-and-coming fighters in all of boxing. I have been training like never before and promise another sensational victory.”

Undefeated knockout artists Regis Prograis and Amos Cowart also meet on the card at welterweight.
