Sebastian Fundora will make the next defence of his WBC super-welterweight world title on October 17.

Fundora has held the WBC belt since defeating Tim Tszyu by split decision in March 2024. The 6ft 6in southpaw most recently retained his title by stopping former unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman in March, his third early finish in a row after beating Chordale Booker and Tszyu in a rematch.

He will face unbeaten mandatory challenger Ermal Hadribeaj, headlining a PBS card shown live on DAZN, with TNT Sports also carrying the event in the UK under its wider broadcast arrangement with the streaming platform.

Hadribeaj enters the biggest fight of his career with an unbeaten 23-0-1 record and was installed as Fundora’s mandatory challenger by the WBC after a final eliminator against Bakary Samake in May. The Albanian-born contender faces an enormous step up in this maiden world title fight.

The bout had been expected for some time after Fundora committed to fulfilling his mandatory obligation, despite lucrative unification options in a stacked super-welterweight division.

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis has made no secret of his desire to become undisputed at 154lbs after collecting the WBA and WBO titles.

For now, Fundora’s focus will be on Hadribeaj, with victory clearing another obstacle before negotiations potentially begin for one of the division’s major match-ups.

The October 17 card will form part of PBC’s new multi-year partnership with DAZN, which was announced in July and brings another major boxing stable onto the streaming platform.
