Ellie Scotney created history on Sunday by becoming the youngest undisputed champion in the four-belt era.
The 28-year-old defeated Mayelli Flores by unanimous decision at the Olympia in London to win the WBA super-bantamweight title, adding that strap to her WBC, IBF and WBO belts in the process.
Since making her debut back in 2020, Scotney has put together an unbeaten record of 12-0 and hasn’t looked close to tasting defeat so far, and some fans have began to look ahead to wonder what could be next for the undisputed champion.
Speaking in her post-fight press conference, Scotney showed no signs of resting on her laurels after confirming that she plans on being as active as possible.
“I want to be active … If I could get my own way I’d be in the gym next week.”
The Catford fighter was then asked whether a possible move to featherweight could be on the cards.
“Who knows. I feel like I’ve waited a long time to get this moment and at certain points I thought, am I going to get it? But MVP came in and they made sure I did. So, I’m going to enjoy this moment, sit down with the team and decide what’s next, so I’ll take my time with that.”
One possible option for Scotney could be a clash against Skye Nicolson, who became WBC interim super-bantamweight title with a win over Yuliahn Luna Avila in December, and returns to action later this month when she faces Mariah Turner in Melbourne, Australia.
