Devin Haney is yet to fight this year, but ‘The Dream’ has been linked to a showdown with Shakur Stevenson, who recently signed with Zuffa Boxing. Now, Haney’s most fierce rival, Ryan Garcia, has predicted how he would fare against the Newark southpaw.
Stevenson rose the pound-for-pound rankings with a win over Teofimo Lopez at the beginning of the year, but he has struggled to secure a fight since, despite links to Garcia, Conor Benn and most recently, Haney.
Meanwhile, Haney’s last outing came in November 2025, when he captured the WBO welterweight world title by putting an end to Brian Norman Jr’s undefeated record to become a three-division world champion, but he has been ordered for a clash with Keyshawn Davis.
Should both retain their titles, fans remain hopeful that Haney and Garcia may rematch one another in a grudge match unification next year, following on from their controversial 2024 no-contest.
Yet, speaking with Fight Hub TV, Garcia admitted that he believes Stevenson would trump Haney in a ‘tough fight’, but appreciated that Haney’s size would make it difficult for the reigning WBO super-lightweight world champion.
“I don’t know why they are fighting, but it’s a big fight if they get it done. That’s a tough fight for both of ‘em, hope that the best man wins.
“My first instinct says that Shakur will win, but Devin is a big guy. He’s a big dude, so we will see how that goes.”
News on Haney’s next fight is expected imminently, with today being the negotiation deadline for the ordered fight between he and Davis.
