TONIGHT the SSE Arena in Belfast hosts the Ryan Burnett fight tonight, Saturday October 21. Burnett won the IBF bantamweight title last time out, beating Lee Haskins to become a world champion. He goes straight into a unification battle with Kazakhstan’s Zhanat Zhakiyanov.
As an intriguing subplot the Kazakh is trained by Ricky Hatton, Burnett’s former coach, and the two were once sparring partners. Burnett is now trained by Adam Booth and promises he is a different animal to the man Zhakiyanov once knew.
The bill is televised in the UK on Sky Sports Action at 7.30pm. The fight will also be shown in the USA, on delay on HBO at 10pm ET.
On the undercard Paul Hyland Jnr boxes Stephen Ormond and James Tennyson meets Darren Traynor.
