Russia joins race to host Tyson Fury’s last fight

HAVING fought in the UK, Canada, Germany and America Tyson Fury has now been offered the chance to fight in Russia.

The ‘Gypsy King’ visited Istanbul last week as a guest of the International Boxing Association (IBA) who hosted their latest boxing event, headlined by Albert Batyrgaziev against Jazza Dickens.

Fury fulfilled some media duties and made it clear he wanted a third fight against Oleksandr Usyk, failing that he remains open to an all-British clash against Anthony Joshua. Meanwhile, IBA President Umar Kremelev revealed he would like to be involved in Fury’s final fight.

Speaking to Fury at last week’s event, Kremelev said: “We would love to make a professional fight for you [Fury] — a farewell bout, as the king of boxing. One final, beautiful fight to say farewell. You started your career with the IBA, so you have to complete your career with IBA!”

Fury, a two-time heavyweight champion, announced his retirement in January but last week on Instagram announced a trilogy bout against Usyk would take place at Wembley Stadium in April 2026.

Responding to Kremelev’s invitation, Fury answered: “I was supposed to go, four years ago.

“I was supposed to go to the Red Square with a fur coat in the winter with the snow, before going to party in New Zealand.

“I’m filming a reality show with Netflix, [so] it would be very good to see Russia on the TV worldwide — 500 million, a billion people — very good for relations… so you give us a proposal, you speak to (his manager) Spencer [Brown]!”

The IBA recently declared their interest in bringing a third fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev to Russia. Recently, Turki Alalshikh – who brought the first two bouts to Saudi Arabia – gave his blessing for the fight to take place in Russia but it remains to be seen whether or not the IBA will be involved.
