AT the beginning of this month, Nathaniel Collins’ challenge for the European featherweight title was confirmed. Now, the co-main event of that card, where Regan Glackin faces Louie O’Doherty, will determine a new British lightweight champion.
Fighting solely in Scotland, Glasgow-based Glackin has strung together 16 straight victories and maintained an undefeated record since his professional debut in 2019, but has made a noticeable jump up in levels of late.
After outpointing Ahmed Mweva for the Scottish Area title in 2023, ‘The Shark’ fought on four occasions during 2024, including a decision triumph against Craig Woodruff to become the Celtic lightweight champion.
Glackin has twice defended that crown, comfortably overcoming both Kieran Tarleton last September and then Kyle Boyd in his lone outing of 2025 thus far, where he went 12 rounds for the first time in his career.
Meanwhile, Essex’s Louie O’Doherty, 10-0 (2 KOs), also boasts an unbeaten record. He too ticked off the 12-round milestone in his last outing, where he scored a career-best victory against Youssef Khoumari to become English lightweight champion.
Therefore, in a meeting between the reigning Scottish and English lightweight titlists, it seems fitting that the now-vacant British title, previously held by world title challenger Sam Noakes, will be on the line.
In the British Boxing Board of Control’s latest ‘championship circular’, they confirmed that the coveted Lonsdale Belt will indeed be up for grabs when Glackin and O’Doherty collide north of the border.

“Following Sam Noakes relinquishing the above Championship, the Stewards decided to approve a request from Promoter Frank Warren for the above contest, which will take place on Saturday, 4th October 2025 at a venue to be advised.”
Glackin-O’Doherty will go ahead on Saturday, October 4, at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, before Collins, 17-0 (8 KOs), attempts to dethrone Spain’s European featherweight champion, Cristobal Lorente, 20-0-2 (8 KOs), in the main event, live on DAZN.
