Pound for pound

The fifth-best fighter in the world, Guillermo Rigondeaux, finally fights in the UK as he breaks Jazza Dickens’ jaw in the second round, forcing the Liverpudlian to pull out.

Dickens was a huge underdog going in and, as he was not ranked in our pound for pound top 10, Rigondeaux stays put at fifth after the win.

Heavyweight

Deontay Wilder overcomes a broken hand and torn bicep to see off Chris Arreola in defence of his WBC world title. The injuries looked to have occured in the fourth round, when Wilder floored the challenger and almost stopped him.

The unbeaten American now looks to be sidelined for the rest of 2016 and remains in third place.

Super-middleweight

Former WBO ruler Arthur Abraham rebounds from his lopsided points defeat to Gilberto Ramirez by hammering Tim Robin Lihaug inside eight rounds in Germany.

As Lihaug was unranked, Abraham remains in third.

Lightweight

Completing the trifecta, Terry Flanagan keeps hold of his third place in the rankings by outpointing a frustrating Mzonke Fana over 12, retaining his WBO world title in the process.

Fana is a former world champion, though his reign ended way back in 2008 and is not ranked in our lightweight ratings.

Super-bantamweight

Rigondeaux tightens his grip on the division by shattering Dickens’ jaw with a peach of a left hand in the second round of his WBA world title defence.

Ranked No 1, the Cuban maestro was not able to flaunt his intoxicating skill in Cardiff though did give a taste of just how good he is.

Super-flyweight

McJoe Arroyo, previously No 7, is removed for inactivity. It has been a year since he last fought and the IBF champion does not have another outing scheduled yet.

All those below him move up a place and unbeaten Brit Kal Yafai – mooted to be fighting Arroyo next – comes in at 10th.
