Canelo Alvarez retains his No 6 position with a dominant win over WBO world super-welterweight champion Liam Smith, who is not included in our P4P top 10.
There’s a new leader in town. In just his 10th fight, previously unranked Oleksandr Usyk leaps into the top spot by dominating WBO champion Krzysztof Glowacki over 12 rounds. Glowacki had earned his No 1 spot by beating previous division leader Marco Huck, and now drops to No 2 while Mairis Briedis – who was 10th – leaves the rankings to make room for Usyk.
Former division leader Canelo Alvarez fights at 154lbs so is ejected from the rankings, making room for Willie Monroe Jnr – fresh off his decision win over Gabriel Rosado – to enter at No 10.
Super-welterweight
Canelo is back on top. Having previously been the boss at 154 due to wins over Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara (who drops to No 2), Canelo left the rankings at this weight when he won the WBC middleweight title at a 155lb catchweight fight against Miguel Cotto last year. He is reinstated in the top sport after his win over Smith, who remains at No 9. Ishe Smith (8) holds on to his position with a points win over unranked Frank Galarza. Cornelius Bundrage leaves the rankings due to inactivity.
Featherweight
Abner Mares, who sat in the middle of the pack, is forced to leave as he has not fought in a year and has no fight scheduled yet. He was set to fight Jesus Cuellar earlier in the year but eye problems ruled him out. His future is uncertain. Oscar Escandon moves in at No 10.
Japan’s Hozumi Hasegawa storms in at No 7 by dethroning WBC champion Hugo Ruiz who drops to No 8.
Shinsuke Yamanaka (No 1) keeps his WBC title by rising from the canvas to stop No 4 Anselmo Moreno in seven rounds. Both men retain their positions. Tomoki Kameda is removed due to inactivity, making room for Pungluang Sor Singyu to come in at No 10.
Super-flyweight
Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (No 4) marches on with a routine win over overmatched debutant (and superbly named) Super Bank Sitlekpet.
Alberto Rossel is removed due to inactivity and Martin Tecuapetla comes in at No 10.
