Punter wagers a whopping £97,000 on Carl Frampton to beat Kiko Martinez

AHEAD of Saturday’s IBF super-bantamweight world title fight between Carl Frampton and Kiko Martinez, William Hill have seen a supporter of the Belfast fighter put his money where his mouth is.

The punter walked into a shop in the city where the bout is to be held and wagered £97,000 on the Jackal at odds of 1/6 to win. Should Frampton win, the gutsy punter will pocket £113,166.67 (a profit of 16,166.67).

“On Saturday night, Carl Frampton will have huge support from the crowd and he is garnering a great deal of support from William Hill customers as well,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

Frampton is red hot favourite at 1/6 with Kiko Martinez 4/1 and the draw 25/1. 60 per cent of all bets in the method market have been for Carl Frampton to win by TKO at 10/11.

Method of result: 10/11 Frampton by KO, TKO, TD or DQ; 5/1 Martinez by KO, TKO, TD or DQ; 13/8 Frampton by decision; 12/1 Martinez by decision
