Many fans were concerned for Fabio Wardley following his epic battle against Daniel Dubois on Saturday.
Wardley came up short in the defence of his WBO heavyweight title as he suffered an 11th round stoppage defeat to Dubois at Co-Op Live in Manchester.
The Ipswich man had started the contest well, dropping Dubois inside the opening 10 seconds of the bout before earning another knockdown in round three, but from that point onwards Wardley shipped a huge amount of punishment from his rival.
Wardley had to contend with a serious cut on his nose along with a heavily swollen right eye, and during the closing rounds of the contest, he looked extremely unsteady any his feet, with many feeling the towel should have arguably been thrown in earlier.
In the end, it was referee Howard Foster who stepped in to stop the contest after 28 seconds of the 11th round, and Wardley’s trainer Ben Davison has issued an update on the condition of the 31-year-old, posting on social media to reveal his man is thankfully ok.
“Most importantly Fabio is ok…Very easy to forget what Fabio has achieved. From 4 white collar fights to heavyweight champion in the world. Not an easy task to do or for us to help guide against the best in the world. Never been done before, never be done again.”
Queensberry’s head of boxing Lee Eaton also confirmed that the Ipswich man is recovering at home.

Wardley once again showed tremendous heart and bravery throughout the fight against Dubois, but will now hopefully take plenty of time to recover before returning to the ring.
