Jake Paul will be attempting to do the unthinkable when he collides with Anthony Joshua next month.
Paul and Joshua will meet at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on December 19, with AJ stepping in after Paul’s originally planned fight with Gervonta Davis this month was cancelled due to ‘Tank’ being named in a civil lawsuit due to domestic allegations.
It sees ‘The Problem Child’ go from facing a 5ft 5in 135lb fighter to a 6ft 6in heavyweight who has come in over 250lbs in his last five bouts, but Joshua will have to weigh less than 245lbs for the clash against Paul.
Nonetheless, AJ is still seen as a massive favourite for the clash, having been a two-time unified world heavyweight champion, while Paul’s most notable wins have come against a 58-year-old Mike Tyson, and former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Joshua has had 32 professional bouts all in all, securing 25 knockouts in his 28 victories, compared to Paul who has a record of 12 wins and 1 defeat, with that loss coming against Tommy Fury back in February 2023.
Despite the huge gulf in experience, Paul is confident that he can spring the upset, and revealed in a video posted by Most Valuable Promotions the four weaknesses he thinks Joshua possesses.
“His chin’s gone. He’s stiff, no rhythm, no skill. [He only has] power.”
Joshua is pencilled in to return to action in February, potentially paving the way for a long-awaited showdown against Tyson Fury later in 2026, but Paul will be hoping to disrupt those plans and pull off a major upset.
