Paris Olympian Lewis Richardson joins Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions

OLYMPIC bronze medallist Lewis Richardson has inked a deal with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, igniting what promises to be a long and successful professional career.

The 27-year-old shone brightly at the Paris Games last year, though a highly contentious split decision defeat ultimately denied him a place in the final.

It was against Marco Verde, who makes his pro debut on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull this Saturday, where Richardson came unstuck.

But nevertheless, the Essex man became the only GB Boxing member to claim a place on the podium and, in turn, secure himself a promotional deal with Warren.

Elsewhere in his amateur career, Richardson impressed at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games – winning silver and bronze respectively – back in 2022, before dropping down from middleweight to super-welterweight (71kg).

While it is unclear as to where he will campaign as a professional, the spindly southpaw should nonetheless represent a nightmare for any fighter in and around his division.

His long limbs, however, only scratch the surface when it comes to his talent, with Richardson possessing a technically polished style in the ring.

Queensberry’s announcement of their latest signing, meanwhile, arrived earlier today, with the promotional outfit branding the amateur standout a “future world champion.”

Along with a plethora of champions, contenders and prospects, Richardson will join his GB Boxing teammate, Delicious Orie, who made his professional debut with Warren last month.

And while a further announcement is yet to emerge, fans can expect Richardson to make his much anticipated debut sooner rather than later.
