Manny Pacquiao‘s team have provided a big update on the Filipino’s plans after it was announced that the rematch with Floyd Mayweather will no longer be taking place later this year.

The two pound-for-pound legends were scheduled to square off in September, only for it to be reported this week that Mayweather to be ruled out of their professional contest.

This is because the 49-year-old has been hit with an enormous lawsuit by CSI Sports Events, who claim the boxer was paid $4.65m in advances for an exclusive rights deal.

Such exclusivity was agreed on the basis that CSI would promote his rematch with Pacquiao, as well as an exhibition between Mayweather and Mike Tyson.

It remains to be seen whether either event will actually take place, however, as CSI have accused Mayweather of breaching his contract by agreeing to an exhibition with Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis.

This was supposed to take place on June 27, yet now it seems the former five-division world champion is left without a single fight date in the diary.

In response to this news, Pacquiao’s business partner has told The Ring that his client is still expecting to return later this year, just not in a rematch with Mayweather.

“Manny Pacquiao Promotions CEO Jas Mathur tells The Ring that Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao II will no longer be going forward in September.

“Pac Man has also begun exploring other possible options for his next fight later this year.”

Pacquiao’s last professional outing took place in July 2025, when he boxed to a contentious draw against then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

And while the Mayweather rematch has been cancelled, or at least postponed to a later date, the 47-year-old is nonetheless searching for a fresh opponent.
