AFTER the cancellation of last weekend’s Fundora-Thurman event, many fans believed that the highlight of the undercard could collapse entirely. Thankfully, O’Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton will face one another before the end of year on an alternate bill.
Fulton, 23-1 (8 KOs), was the unified champion and kingpin of the super-bantamweight division until the arrival of, and defeat to, Naoya Inoue in 2023 instigated a move up to featherweight.
In February, Fulton sprung the upset to defeat Brandon Figueroa for a second time and get his hands on the WBC featherweight title, but he has since revealed plans to move to super-featherweight, despite boasting just two bouts at 126lbs.
As a result, a showdown between he and WBC super-featherweight champion O’Shaquie Foster, 23-3 (12 KOs), has been touted throughout the year and was expected to take place on the undercard of Gervonta Davis’ rematch with Lamont Roach Jr.
That fight never came to fruition, and Foster-Fulton was then scheduled to take place on the Fundora-Thurman card last weekend. However, a hand injury to the super-welterweight champion led to the cancellation of the event and put Foster-Fulton in jeopardy.
Yet, according to ESPN, the bout will now take place on the undercard of Isaac Cruz’s WBC interim super-lightweight title with Roach, joining Alimkhanuly-Lara and thus making the bill a world title tripleheader.
“O’Shaquie Foster will finally defend his WBC junior lightweight title against Stephen Fulton Jr. on Dec. 6 in San Antonio as part of the undercard for a PBC Pay-Per-View on Prime event headlined by Lamont Roach Jr. vs. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, ESPN confirmed with Premier Boxing Champions on Tuesday.”
Cruz-Roach takes place on Saturday, December 6, and has fast become one of the strongest remaining cards of the 2025 boxing calendar. The full show will be available to watch live on Amazon Prime PPV.
