NICK BLACKWELL collapsed in the ring and was taken to hospital after his stoppage loss to Chris Eubank Jr earlier tonight.

The ringside doctor prompted referee Victor Loughlin to stop the fight in the 10th round after Blackwell’s left eye became badly swollen.

Blackwell, who relinquished his British middleweight title, had taken a lot of punishment prior to the stoppage. His face was a bloody mess and his nose had been broken.

After the stoppage, he seemed OK as the result was announced, until he collapsed in his corner. He was immediately attended to by the physicians at ringside and given oxygen. He was then stretchered out of the ring and taken to hospital.

At this stage his condition is unknown but everyone at Boxing News sincerely hopes he is OK.
