After taking on both men in his two-fight professional boxing career, Francis Ngannou has offered his opinion on Anthony Joshua’s long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury, amid suggestions that the fight will finally take place next year.
Joshua and Fury have been linked to one another for over a decade now, but there is newfound confidence that the grudge match will go ahead late next year.
Former UFC star Ngannou is one of six heavyweights to have faced both ‘AJ’ and ‘The Gypsy King’, being on the receiving end of an authoritative beatdown from Joshua last year, just five months after a controversial split-decision defeat to Fury.
Speaking with Clubhouse Boxing, Ngannou looked ahead to the potential all-British dust-up, believing that their styles will make for a ‘fun fight’.
“I think, if Tyson is preparing to come back then he is going to come back for that fight to happen. It also depends on how AJ is at the moment.
“If it happens, it is going to be a pretty good fight because regardless of whatever he is doing [right now], we know that Tyson has a unique style of boxing; fluid with very long arms, fast and knows how to move around. Having AJ in front of him, this will be a fun fight.”
Joshua-Fury is expected to take place during the second half of 2026, providing Joshua overcomes both Jake Paul on Friday night and a February opponent, whilst Fury is expected to have a tune-up of his own, with April touted as the date for his potential return.
