THE mother of IBF super-middleweight world champion Caleb Plant has been killed.
According to reports, Beth Plant was being taken to hospital in an ambulance when they called the police. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated that she “became combative and pulled a knife from her backpack”. A Cheatham Country Sheriff’s deputy shot her outside the ambulance when “she brandished the knife at the deputy”. The 51-year-old was taken to a Nashville hospital where she died.
The circumstances that led to the fatal shooting are being investigated.
Plant recently became the IBF 168lbs world champion when he beat Jose Uzcategui in January. Plant stated on social media, “Love you forever and always momma . You always said “work hard bubba” and I did. All you needed was help with your demons… you’re free now momma.”
