Moses Itauma has refused to be regarded as boxing’s most dangerous heavyweight, believing that one of his nearest rivals is more deserving of such a menacing status.

While the 21-year-old may not admit to being the most formidable puncher, his performances would certainly suggest he is in the conversation.

Particularly destructive was his fifth-round stoppage of Jermaine Franklin, a typically durable heavyweight, who he ruthlessly dropped and dispatched in March.

Now, Itauma is gearing up for a seemingly tougher challenge against Filip Hrgovic, who is expected to offer plenty of resistance at London’s O2 Arena on August 29.

If he proves successful against Hrgovic, a consensus top 10 heavyweight, then it should be just a matter of time before the unbeaten knockout artist secures a world title shot.

Already a world champion, meanwhile, is Daniel Dubois, who claimed his WBO strap by dethroning Fabio Wardley with an 11th-round finish in May.

‘Dynamite’ has also previously held the IBF title, which he defended with a fifth-round stoppage of Anthony Joshua before losing by the same verdict to Oleksandr Usyk in July 2025.

Speaking with DAZN, Itauma named the 28-year-old – with whom he appears to be on a collision course – as the division’s most dangerous operator.

“No [it’s not me or Hrgovic], I think the most dangerous heavyweight is Daniel Dubois. You [wouldn’t] really wanna meet him in an alleyway, would you?

“If you were to ask me who I’d pick [to fight alongside] in a 2 v 2 fight, I’d pick Daniel Dubois.

“Don’t get me wrong – I’d fight Daniel. But I’d want him as my teammate [in a 2 v 2 scenario].”

According to Itauma, Queensberry promoter Frank Warren is already plotting an undisputed showdown between himself and Dubois, who is expected to rematch Wardley in his next outing.
