Moses Itauma could face unbeaten heavyweight as Mike Tyson record deadline nears
Moses Itauma

RISING heavyweight star Moses Itauma has now reached the age of 20, meaning his ambition to break Mike Tyson’s record is beginning to slip away.

The devastating puncher comes off an emphatic stoppage over Demsey McKean, ending their encounter on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 in just over a minute.

Not only is Itauma a prolific knockout artist, but he has also proven to be one of the most dynamic and explosive movers in the land of the giants.

And yet, the talented Brit now has just under five months to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, a goal he has made no attempt to hide.

‘Iron Mike,’ of course, set the record when he dethroned Trevor Berbick with a destructive two-round display in 1986.

Since then, the remarkable feat has eluded every teenager looking to etch their name into the history books, with Itauma seemingly being the first, in a long while, to chase Tyson’s coveted title.

But regardless of the narrative surrounding his career, the 20-year-old is nonetheless set to extend his tremendous surge in 2025.

While there has been no mention of his next opponent, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed his interest in a clash between Itauma and Justis Huni, who returns to action on the undercard of Jai Opetaia vs David Nyika tomorrow night.

The two heavyweights, Hearn highlighted during Huni’s weigh-in, are ranked top ten in the world by the WBO, giving both fighters an opportunity to catapult themselves towards a title shot should they lock horns.
