PUERTO RICAN legend Miguel Cotto has parted ways with promoter RocNation Sports.

Cotto stated, “I want to thank [the] RocNation family for their support. I’ve decided to take a new step in my career. Will be back really soon.”

He was thought to be boxing Yosihiro Kamegai on June 24, but now he faces another stumbling block. Already this year Cotto has had a February fight with James Kirkland fall through. He has little time to waste as he has said this will be his last year in boxing.

Cotto has not fought since being decisioned by Saul Alvarez in 2015 but his trainer Freddie Roach wants him to have a major fight before the end of this year. “Because he’s retiring before the end of the year. This is his last year boxing and he’s going to retire. He wants to spend more time with his family,” he previously told Boxing News. “He’s been fighting for a long time and it would be a great ending.”
