MEPB elevates regional boxing standards with successful cutman course

THE Middle East Professional Boxing (MEPB) organisation has taken a significant step in its commitment to advancing the sport in the region by successfully hosting a specialised Professional Cutman Certification Course on October 4th and 5th at the Donatello Hotel in Dubai.

The two-day intensive training event was a critical addition to MEPB’s ongoing mission to continually enhance the quality and safety standards of professional boxing across the Middle East.

The course was expertly led by renowned cutman, Denis Kolesnik (Cutman 227). Adding further prestige and expertise, Neil Scott from NAS Medical/Ringside Medics flew in from the UK to provide invaluable medical advice and protocols.

Scott’s participation underscored the event’s high standards; he is a trusted medical professional, serving as the MEPB medical advisor and Chief Medical Officer for major events like Riyadh Season Boxing.

The curriculum covered essential topics, including:

Detailed cornerman protocols.

Professional hand wrapping techniques.

Advanced cutman practices for managing facial lacerations and swelling.

The event saw enthusiastic attendance from 30 regional participants, with several flying in specifically to gain certification from this high-calibre training.

“This Cutman Certification Course was a resounding success, and I could not be prouder of the talent and commitment shown by our participants,” said MEPB President Jose Mohan.

“This event underscores the MEPB’s foundational commitment to continuous development. We are dedicated to consistently raising the bar in the region, and we plan to achieve this by conducting further workshops in all key aspects of boxing, including refereeing, judging, medical practices, and more. A huge thank you to the entire MEPB team for their excellent work in organizing this essential training event.”

The MEPB looks forward to announcing details on its next series of professional workshops soon, reinforcing its position as a driving force for elite boxing standards in the Middle East.
