Manny Pacquiao bites back at Floyd Mayweather but the feud remains merely a war of words

THE feud between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao continues without any sign of differences being settled in a boxing ring.

The Filipino, preparing for a November 22 showdown with Chris Algieri, reacted to news that Mayweather had openly staged events to spice up Showtime’s All Access, with suggestion the American will never fight him.

“Floyd Mayweather’s testimony to the commission on All Access’ authenticity tells me everything I need to know about his desire to fight me,” Pacquiao tweeted.

Mayweather responded on the social media site with typical charm.

“…Miss Pac Man is broke and desperate for a pay day. Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke,” came the reply, posted alongside photographs of Pacquiao’s 2012 loss to Juan Manuel Marquez.

Immediately after Mayweather’s September 13 rematch victory over Marcos Maidana, the unbeaten superstar indicated he would be willing to take on his perennial nemesis in 2015. However, within an hour, at the post-fight press conference, his interest cooled as reporters pressed him to reiterate his desire to fight Pacquiao.

The increasingly exhausting subject of Mayweather was addressed by Pacquiao during a recent television interview in the Philippines.

“I’m not angry at him,” Pacquiao said about Mayweather. “I still feel sorry for him because he acts like an uneducated person. It’s pitiful to me and I’m praying for him.

“He should fear God.”

Pacquiao then quoted a verse from the New Testament book, Matthew.

“For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”
