BOTH Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde made weight Friday for tomorrow’s clash at Church House in London. Each came in at 174lbs and while the Commonwealth light-heavyweight title is at stake, this contest means much more. It’s a top quality British bout and the winner will be well placed to challenge for the currently vacant WBO light-heavyweight world title next year.

Arthur is fully focused on the fight at hand. “I’m excited. I can’t wait to get in there. We’re here, there’s nothing else to do,” he tells Boxing News. “I’m just waiting ready to go now.

“I’m in my own zone really, I’m just going through the fight, day in, day out. As long as I’m awake I’m going through the fight. Now I’ve just got to go and do it, there’s nothing that I’m thinking about other than that.”

“I don’t think he’s overrated. I just think I’m better,” he added. “I don’t want to win because he’s the A or B side or the favourite or whatever. I want to win for me. This is nothing to do with anyone else.”

He also had a final warning for Yarde. “He’ll be ready but will he be able to handle it? I know they think it’s going to be easy to get past the jab. That’s what I know they believe but it’s not as easy as it looks. I look easier to hit than I am and the jab looks easier to slip than it is,” Arthur said. “They believe this fight’s going to be easy, I know they do. It’s just not.

“They’re disregarding my skills, my skillset.”
