THERE’S talk of a rematch between heavyweights Lucas Browne and Kamil Sokolowski in bareknuckle boxing’s trigon after ‘Big Daddy’ raced to a quick win in Bristol. In March 2019, Browne got off the floor to outpoint Sokolowski over six rounds in Glasgow.
Fast forward six years, and Sokolowski is the No. 1 contender for bareknuckle boxing’s heavyweight championship, and they could be on a collision course again.
The 266 lbs Aussie veteran has made the switch to bareknuckle boxing after a 31-6 pro gloved career that featured a win over James Toney and losses to Dillian Whyte and Dave Allen.
Browne also fought MMA and the 46-year-old admits he had doubts stepping into the trigon to face Corey Harrison from Burnley.
He said: “I came into this not having any idea if I could take the punches.”
That question was soon answered.
Harrison slammed home a right off his chin and Browne just smiled.
‘Big Daddy’ reacted in a similar fashion after eating a left hook and the effect of his own punches was more dramatic.
The first jab he landed knocked Harrison into the ropes and when he landed a right, it opened a gash on Harrison’s hairline.
Blood streamed down his face, and the ringside doctor ruled the 30-year-old from Burnley out at the start of the second round.
Browne said: “I enjoyed that. I had nervous energy I haven’t had for years.
“I wanted a big ‘Wow’ moment, but I’m happy the way it ended.”
Asked about fighting Sokolowski, Browne said: “He’s one tough man and it would be a great fight.”
