The Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson event has suffered a big blow with just hours to go until fight night.

Lopez is set to defend his WBO super-lightweight title against Stevenson at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night.

Reigning WBC lightweight champion Stevenson is attempting to become a four-division world champion with a win, but Lopez will be hoping to spoil those plans and keep hold of his 140lb strap.

While the Lopez vs. Stevenson fight is undoubtedly the star attraction of the bill, the undercard did boast some big names, including the likes of Keyshawn Davis and Jarrell Miller.

Two other world title fights were also scheduled, though one of them has fallen through, after it was reported by The Ring that Carlos Adames was no longer defending his WBC middleweight title against Austin Williams.

“Carlos Adames has been forced to withdraw from his WBC middleweight title defense against Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams at The Ring VI due to illness, The Ring has learned.

According to Williams’ manager Sam Katkovski, a replacement opponent is being sought so Williams can stay on the card.”

Adames was set to compete for the first time since his draw against Hamzah Sheeraz back in February 2025, but will now be forced to sit on the sidelines for longer.

Along with Lopez defending his WBO super-lightweight title against Stevenson in the main event, one further world title fight remains on the card, as Bruce Carrington and Carlos Castro meet for the vacant WBC featherweight title.
